COVID-19 UPDATE Overnight, the decision was made by the NFNL to postpone the start of all football and netball competitions until at least the 2nd of May. Their directive is that no practice matches, training sessions or official matches take place until further notice. The NFNL have stated: "The NFNL would like to make their position very clear when it comes to training. If a club continues to train and a player is infected from another player, you will run the risk of having the entire team withdrawn from the competition for the entire season. It will be totally irresponsible for anyone to entertain ways to get around the recommendation of no training and the NFNL will treat any breaches extremely seriously" The HFNC are supportive of the league's decisions and recommendations and advise all players and coaches to adhere to these instructions. As disappointing as this is to many of us, the health and safety of ourselves, our families and the wider community is our top priority. Statement from the @northernfootballnetballleague regarding the 2020 Football & Netball season. “Following a meeting of the six senior metropolitan community leagues today, including the NFNL, EDFL, EFNL, SFNL, VAFA and WRFL, please refer to the following statement. The decision has been made to manage the COVID-19 issue for community football, netball and umpiring with a staged approach. A collective decision has been made to postpone all community senior and junior football and winter-season netball competitions until the weekend of Saturday, May 2, 2020. All Leagues agreed to suspend practice matches effective immediately and recommend that club training ceases until further notice. The Leagues will re-convene on Tuesday, April 14 to review and/or confirm this commencement date, subject to the status of the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision has been reached with consideration to Consistency, League and Club Sustainability and the Health and Welfare of all stakeholders. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding with this matter.”
